Meet of Champs and All Stars. What to Expect/Required
We are moving into championship season and this email is everything you need to know about Meet of Champs and All Stars.
Meet of Champs:
In order for your swimmer to qualify for Meet of Champs (MOC) they must attend at least two dual meets.
They must have the top times in each event listed below as dictated by Whale Policies and Procedures:
- Freestyle: Top 8
- Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly: Top 4
- Individual Medley: Top 3
- The team can swim 2 relays in each event for a total of 8 swimmers.
If you think your swimmer will make these cuts then you must declare them available to swim at MOC. There is a document attached on how to declare.
If you do not declare your swimmer available per the attached document they will not be selected to go to MOC even though they have a top time.
The reasoning for requiring declaration is to stop requiring call ups. This used to take the coaches hours after practice.
Meet of Champs will take place June 27th at 6 pm at Jordan High School:
Declarations for Meet of Champs will be required to be completed by June 23rd
at 6 pm. Meet entries will be done after practice on June 24th.
There will be practice for Meet of Champs qualifiers and All Stars Thursday 23rd through All Stars June 30th.
All Stars:
In order to qualify for All Stars a swimmer must meet all of the requirements for MOC and:
- Qualify 1st in their event at MOC or
- Be selected to fill either the top 24 (Freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke) or top 16 (IM) spots in the league as sorted by best time.
You are required to declare for All Stars by noon June 27th. Coaches are required to declare our swimmers to Whale by the end of the meet.
If you declare and then cannot attend the meet then the team is fined unless there are extenuated circumstances. We don't want a swimmer to miss out on swimming in All Stars due to an someone holding a spot and not using it.
The meet will be held on June 30th at 6 pm at Fort Bend Practice Facility
Please follow the attached directions to declare your swimmer eligible to swim.
Championship Season Volunteering:
Everyone that makes a championship meet will be required to volunteer. We will receive our job sign ups later this week. And you will be assigned a role.
